Profile

Josh Krischer, founder and principal analyst, is an expert and executive adviser in high-end computing, storage, disaster recovery techniques, and data center consolidation, with over 38 years of experience. Before founding Josh Krischer & Associates, he was a Research Vice-President at Gartner Inc from 1998 until 2007.

Many large vendors regard him as the most influential mainframe and storage analyst in Europe and one of the most influential world-wide. In his career, he has been a featured speaker at many IT events around the globe, including Gartner summits and symposia, industry and educational conferences, and major vendor events.
While at Gartner, his world-wide responsibilities included co-authoring the Gartner magic quadrants, vendor ratings and hype cycles for servers and storage. He consulted IT industry players of all sizes, from start-ups to leading hardware vendors (including top level executives from EMC, FSC, HP, HDS, IBM, Sun, Unisys, and others) regarding strategic actions in marketing and sales. Furthermore, he advised hundreds of end-user executives with data center issues, in particular with disaster recovery and procurement decisions.

One of his specialties is how to purchase storage and negotiate with vendors. Between 2000 and 2005, he handled almost all of Gartner's storage RFPs in the EMEA region, saving customers millions of Euros.
